Easy Apple Crumble Dessert

The easy apple crumble recipe! Yum….. A timeless dish that will bring back memories of when Ma’ used to make it. Also, this dish has crunchy almonds and shredded coconut on top of a delicious apple base.

Ingredients

  • BASE
  • 5 apples (chopped and peeled, if you prefer)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot
  • 2-3 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • TOP
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions

Base

  1. Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Grease your baking dish with coconut oil.
  2. In a large bowl add the chopped apples and mix in the arrowroot powder. Then add chia seeds, cinnamon and lemon juice and stir everything together.
  3. Place whole mixture in the oiled dish.

TOP

  1. Mix thoroughly in the almonds, oats, almond flour, maple syrup, cinnamon, sea salt and coconut oil in a separate bowl.
  2. Cover the base mixture (in the oiled dish) with the top mixture.
  3. I used a glass lid for baking this dish. Feel free to cover the dish with foil and poke a couple holes instead.
  4. Bake for 30 mins.
  5. After, uncover the apple crumble and bake for 10 more mins or till the topping gets a bit crispy.
